Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Salton multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.
- Check for obvious misplacement of the inner pot: Remove the inner pot, wipe the bottom dry, and reseat it firmly so it makes full contact with the central heating plate and sensor area.
- Inspect the sensor wiring (bottom plate): Turn the cooker upside down on a soft cloth. Remove the bottom cover screws. Locate the small NTC temperature sensor clipped to or embedded in the center of the heating plate. Ensure its two wires are intact and not broken or pinched.
- Check connectors to the main PCB: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Unplug and replug the small connector a few times to clear oxidation. Look for bent pins or burnt marks.
- Test continuity (for advanced DIYers): With a multimeter set to resistance and the unit unplugged, measure the sensor across its two leads. A typical NTC will show several kΩ at room temperature. If it reads open (infinite) or 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the bottom cover, plug in the cooker, and run a short program (e.g., warm or sauté) to see if the E1 code clears.
If the error persists after confirming wiring and sensor, the main control PCB may not be reading the sensor correctly and should be serviced by a qualified technician.
