E7 error appears and the cooker will not start any program; display may flash and beep repeatedly.

Safety: Unplug the unit before inspecting the lid lock mechanism. Never bypass safety switches for normal use.

• Check lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully closed and rotated/latched according to the Salton manual. Press down gently on the lid and try starting a program to see if the error changes.
• Inspect the lid lock: Examine the latch hook and lock slot for food debris or hardened residue. Clean with a damp cloth and a small brush so the latch can move freely.
• Test the microswitch (advanced): With the unit unplugged and the top cover removed (if accessible), locate the small microswitch actuated by the lid latch. Manually press it and check for a distinct click. Use a multimeter to verify continuity when pressed.
• Adjust alignment: If the latch does not fully engage the switch, gently adjust the metal or plastic tab that presses the switch so it makes reliable contact when the lid is closed.

If the microswitch is physically damaged or the wiring is broken, replace the lid lock assembly or have a technician perform the repair.
