Possible Causes
Lid not fully closed or rotated into lock position, Faulty lid position sensor or magnet, Misaligned lid hinge or handle, Broken plastic tab that actuates lid sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure the cooker is unplugged when inspecting mechanical parts.
- Verify correct closure: Close the lid firmly and rotate/lock it as specified in the Salton manual. Some models require aligning arrows or marks.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the lid hinge area and rim for food debris preventing full closure. Clean thoroughly.
- Inspect sensor area: Many models use a small magnet in the lid and a reed switch in the body. Check that the magnet is still present in the lid handle and that the body-side sensor area is not damaged.
- Test actuation: With the unit unplugged, gently press the lid latch or sensor tab and listen for a click from a microswitch. If there is no click or the tab is broken, the lid sensor assembly may need replacement.
If the LID error remains despite proper closure and cleaning, the lid sensor or associated wiring on the control board is likely faulty and should be serviced.
