Salton Thermal Expansion Noise / Loose Internal Components

Multicooker makes loud clicking, popping, or metallic noises during heating or pressure cooking.

Possible Causes

Inner pot expanding and contracting on heating plate, Loose mounting screws on heating plate or chassis, Warped inner pot base, Loose lid hinge or handle screws

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug and cool the unit before tightening any screws.

  • Differentiate normal vs abnormal: Occasional soft clicks from metal expansion are normal. Repeated loud bangs or rattles indicate a mechanical issue.
  • Check pot and plate contact: Ensure the inner pot base is clean and flat. Replace if warped.
  • Tighten internal screws: Remove the bottom cover and gently tighten screws securing the heating plate, chassis, and PCB mounts. Do not overtighten into plastic.
  • Inspect lid hardware: Tighten screws on the lid hinge and handle if they are loose.

If noises persist and are accompanied by performance issues or burning smells, discontinue use and have the unit inspected professionally.
