Possible Causes

Deformed inner pot base preventing proper contact, Dirty or oxidized contact pads on heating plate, Faulty weight sensor or microswitch under plate, Misaligned spring plate assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool.

  • Check inner pot: Inspect the bottom of the Severin inner pot. If it is heavily warped, dented, or not flat, replace the pot.
  • Clean contact area: Wipe the heating plate and any visible contact pads with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Remove burnt food or residue.
  • Inspect spring plate: From the bottom, locate the spring‑loaded plate or microswitch that detects the pot. Ensure it moves freely when pressed from above.
  • Test switch: Use a multimeter to verify the pot detection switch changes state when the plate is pressed. Replace the switch or plate assembly if faulty.

Warning: Only use the original Severin inner pot; third‑party pots may not trigger the detection system correctly.
