Possible Causes
Aging NTC sensor causing drift, Poor thermal contact between sensor and heating plate, Loose mounting clip for sensor, Firmware detecting inconsistent readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool.
- Check sensor mounting: Remove the bottom cover and verify the NTC sensor is firmly clipped against the heating plate or its designated bracket.
- Improve contact: If the sensor is loose, gently bend the metal clip (if present) to increase pressure, or replace the clip if broken.
- Inspect for grease: Clean any grease or burnt residue between the sensor and metal surface to ensure accurate temperature transfer.
- Replace sensor if needed: If E12 recurs frequently, replace the NTC sensor with a compatible Severin part.
Warning: Do not glue the sensor directly with non‑heat‑rated adhesives; use only manufacturer‑approved mounting methods.
