Possible Causes
Inner pot not seated correctly, Dry heating with no or too little water, Thermal fuse partially failing, Faulty NTC giving incorrect high reading
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely. Do not touch the heating plate while hot.
- Check pot placement: Ensure the original Severin inner pot is used and is fully seated flat on the heating plate. Remove any debris or warped foil between pot and plate.
- Verify water level: For pressure or rice programs, ensure the minimum water level specified in the manual is met. Running dry will trigger overtemperature.
- Inspect thermal fuse area: From the bottom, locate the thermal fuse attached near the heater. If it looks discolored or cracked, it may be weakening and tripping early; replacement is recommended.
- Clean heating plate: Wipe off burnt food or residue from the plate with a damp cloth (when cold). Residue can cause hot spots.
- Test again: After cleaning and confirming water level, run a short program. If E3 persists, the NTC or thermal fuse may need replacement.
Warning: Never bypass the thermal fuse or safety thermostat; this is a critical safety device.
