• Do not force: Avoid using excessive force on the handle; this can break the lid.
• Clean locking ring: Once open, clean the locking ring and grooves thoroughly with warm soapy water.
• Inspect lock pin: Check that the lock pin moves freely and is not bent. Lubricate lightly with food‑safe silicone if recommended by Severin.
• Check vent path: Ensure the steam release and float valve channels are clear to prevent residual pressure.
