Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged anti-block shield, Faulty pressure regulator, Excessive food volume or foaming ingredients

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not cover or block the steam outlet. Allow the cooker to cool and depressurize fully before disassembly.

Steps to resolve:

  • Release pressure safely: If the unit is still under pressure, use the designated steam release method per the Siemens user manual. Keep hands and face away from the steam path.
  • Clean the steam release valve: Remove the valve from the lid. Soak it in warm soapy water, then rinse and ensure the internal passage is completely clear by blowing through it.
  • Clean the anti-block shield: Detach the metal or plastic shield covering the steam outlet inside the lid. Remove any starch, foam, or food particles. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Check the silicone sealing ring: Inspect the main lid gasket for deformation, swelling, or food deposits. Clean it and the lid groove; replace the ring if it is hardened or cracked.
  • Review filling level: Ensure you are not exceeding the MAX fill line, especially with foaming foods like beans, rice, or porridge. Reduce quantity and add a little oil to reduce foaming.

When to call a technician: If E5 recurs even with proper cleaning and correct filling, the internal pressure regulator or safety valve may be defective and should be checked by a professional.
