How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and wait until the base is completely cool. Do not attempt live measurements on mains components unless you are qualified.
Steps to diagnose:
- Visual inspection: Remove the bottom cover. Locate the circular heating element under the inner pot area. Check for burnt spots, broken terminals, or discolored insulation.
- Check heater connections: Ensure the spade connectors or screw terminals on the heater are tight and free of corrosion. Reseat them if loose.
- Test heater resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are between 20–60 Ω depending on model. An infinite reading indicates an open heater that must be replaced.
- Inspect thermal fuse: Many Siemens multicookers include a thermal cutoff attached to the heater plate. Test it for continuity; if open, replace with the exact temperature and current rating specified by Siemens.
- Check wiring harness: Look for pinched or burnt wires between the heater and the main control board. Replace any damaged harness sections.
When to call a technician: If the heater and thermal fuse test good, the triac or relay on the main PCB may have failed and should be serviced by a professional.
