Possible Causes
Open or shorted lid temperature sensor, Broken sensor wiring in lid hinge, Corroded connector between lid and body, Moisture ingress into lid sensor housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure the lid is cool before disassembly.
- Locate lid sensor: On some SilverCrest multicookers, a small NTC sensor is mounted in the lid or steam channel to monitor lid temperature.
- Inspect wiring: Open the lid trim or hinge cover to access the sensor wires. Look for pinched, cut, or broken wires where the lid flexes.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or water inside the lid, dry thoroughly and leave the cooker open in a warm, dry place for several hours.
- Connector check: Reseat any plug connectors between the lid harness and the main body harness. Clean light corrosion with contact cleaner.
- Replace sensor: If the NTC measures open or shorted with a multimeter, replace the lid temperature sensor with a compatible part.
