Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve or anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor on lid or chassis, Damaged pressure hose between lid and sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker. Allow it to cool and fully depressurize before disassembling any valve. Never force open a pressurized lid.

  • Clean the steam release valve: Remove the steam release knob or valve cap from the lid (usually pulls or twists off). Clean all holes with warm soapy water and a small brush. Ensure it moves freely.
  • Inspect the anti-block shield: Under the valve, there is often a metal or silicone anti-block shield. Remove it and clean any food residue, starch, or foam buildup. Reinstall securely.
  • Check the safety valve: Verify that the spring-loaded safety valve on the lid is not stuck. It should move up and down freely when pressed from inside (with the lid removed).
  • Inspect pressure sensor and hose (advanced): Some SilverCrest models use a pressure sensor connected via a silicone hose from the lid or steam channel to the main board. Remove the top or side cover and check the hose for cracks, blockages, or disconnection. Inspect the sensor for corrosion or moisture.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the pressure sensor is reading incorrectly or the hose is damaged, replace them. Do not operate the cooker with any pressure safety component bypassed or removed.
