How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and wait until it is completely cool. Internal electrical tests should only be done by competent persons.
- Visual inspection: Remove the bottom cover. Inspect the heating element ring under the inner pot for burn marks, cracks, or broken terminals. Check for loose or discolored wires.
- Check thermal cutout: Many SilverCrest multicookers have a thermal cutout or thermostat attached to the heater. Ensure it is firmly attached and not visibly burnt. Some are resettable by pressing a small button; others must be replaced if open.
- Continuity test (advanced): With a multimeter, measure resistance across the heater terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed heating element. Also test the thermal cutout for continuity.
- Inspect control board: Look at the main PCB for burnt components near the heater output (triac, relay, or tracks). Cold or cracked solder joints on the heater connector are common; resolder if necessary.
- Replace failed parts: Replace the heating element assembly or thermal cutout if defective. If the triac or relay is burnt, the control board may need professional repair or replacement.
