Possible Causes
Faulty lid lock solenoid, Broken lid lock position sensor, Misaligned lid locking mechanism, Damaged lid lock wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not force the lid lock with tools; it is part of the safety system.
- Check lid lock operation: With the cooker unplugged, open and close the lid while observing the lock pin. It should move smoothly in and out. Clean any food residue around the lock slot.
- Listen for lock engagement: On some models, when starting a pressure program you should hear a click from the lid lock solenoid. If there is no sound and E7 appears, the solenoid or its control circuit may be faulty.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the top cover to access the lid lock assembly. Check the small microswitch or position sensor and its wiring harness for damage or loose connectors.
- Manual test (advanced): Using a multimeter, test continuity of the lid lock switch when the lock pin is extended vs. retracted. If the switch never changes state, it is defective.
- Replace lock assembly: If the solenoid coil is open or the switch is broken, replace the complete lid lock assembly with a compatible SilverCrest part.
