Possible Causes
Worn or deformed silicone lid gasket, Dirty or damaged sealing surface on pot or lid, Steam release valve stuck in vent position, Float valve seal damaged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands away from escaping steam. Unplug and allow to cool before handling the lid.
- Check steam release position: Ensure the steam release knob is set to the sealing position according to the manual.
- Inspect lid gasket: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Clean it and the groove thoroughly. If the ring is stretched, cracked, or hardened, replace it with a SilverCrest-compatible gasket.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Wipe the rim of the inner pot and the metal sealing surface on the lid to remove food residue.
- Check float valve seal: Inspect the small silicone cap on the float valve. Replace if cracked or missing.
- Test with water: Run a pressure program with only water. If steam still leaks heavily, replace the gasket and valve components.
