Possible Causes
Pressure sensor hose disconnected or blocked, Electrical connector to pressure sensor loose, Pressure sensor diaphragm damaged by overpressure or contamination, Failed pressure sensor on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure it is completely depressurized and cool before opening any covers.
Steps to diagnose:
- Remove the inner pot and inspect the pressure port area (usually under the lid or near the steam release). Ensure there is no dried food blocking the port.
- Turn the unit over and remove the bottom cover to access the internal components. Locate the small pressure sensor (often a small rectangular device with a silicone hose or direct port to the lid channel).
- Check that any silicone hose between the pressure port and sensor is firmly attached at both ends and not cracked or kinked.
- Inspect the electrical connector from the pressure sensor to the main control board. Reseat the connector.
- Clean any blockage in the pressure channel using a thin, non-metallic brush or pipe cleaner from the lid side (do not poke directly into the sensor).
- If E5 persists and you have access to replacement parts, replace the pressure sensor module or the main board assembly as specified for your Starfrit model.
