Possible Causes
Partially blocked steam release valve, Pressure sensor calibration drift, Leaking silicone sealing ring causing unstable pressure, Faulty main control board pressure algorithm
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the cooker to depressurize naturally or using the quick-release method per the manual. Unplug before inspection.
Steps:
- Remove and disassemble the steam release valve and float valve assembly according to the Starfrit manual. Clean all parts with warm soapy water, removing any starch or food buildup.
- Inspect the silicone sealing ring around the lid for cracks, deformation, or hardening. Replace if it does not sit evenly in the lid groove.
- Check the anti-block shield or metal cap over the steam port (if equipped) for clogging and clean thoroughly.
- Reassemble the lid components carefully, ensuring the steam release valve moves freely between positions.
- Perform a water test with 2–3 cups of water on a pressure program. If E8 persists, the pressure sensor or control board may require replacement.
