Possible Causes

Defective lid lock microswitch, Misaligned lid locking mechanism, Broken lid lock actuator, Damaged lid sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Always unplug the cooker before working near the lid lock mechanism. Do not bypass safety switches for normal operation.

Steps to resolve E6:

  • 1. Check lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully closed and rotated/locked according to the Steba instructions. Press down gently on the lid while starting a program to see if the error changes.
  • 2. Inspect lid lock components: Examine the lid handle and locking tabs for cracks or deformation. Make sure the lock pin moves freely when you open and close the lid.
  • 3. Clean around the lock: Food residue can obstruct the lock mechanism. Use a damp cloth and a soft brush to clean around the lock slot and moving parts. Do not use excessive water.
  • 4. Access the lid lock switch (if located in the body): With the unit unplugged, remove the top cover or control panel bezel (model-dependent) to access the lid lock microswitch. Check that the actuator from the lid actually presses the switch when closed.
  • 5. Test the microswitch: Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to check continuity when the switch is pressed and released. Replace the switch if it does not change state reliably.
  • 6. Inspect wiring: Follow the lid lock harness to the main PCB. Look for pinched or broken wires, especially near hinges or moving parts. Repair or replace the harness if damaged.

Warning: Never operate the multicooker with the lid lock defeated or bypassed; this can lead to dangerous pressure release and injury.
