Possible Causes

Food residue around float valve, Damaged or missing float valve silicone seal, Misaligned float valve pin, Insufficient liquid in pot

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the cooker to cool and depressurize before working on the float valve.

Steps to fix float valve issues:

  • 1. Check liquid level: Ensure you are using at least the minimum recommended liquid for pressure cooking.
  • 2. Clean float valve: From the underside of the lid, remove the retaining clip and take out the float valve pin. Clean the pin and its bore with warm soapy water, removing any starch or residue.
  • 3. Inspect silicone seal: Examine the small silicone cap or ring on the float valve. Replace it if cracked, swollen, or missing.
  • 4. Reassemble correctly: Insert the float valve from the top of the lid, fit the silicone seal, and secure with the retaining clip underneath. Ensure the valve moves freely up and down.
  • 5. Test operation: Run a short pressure cycle with water and observe whether the float valve rises and seals.

If the float valve seat in the lid is damaged, the entire lid assembly may need replacement.
