Possible Causes
Worn or cracked silicone sealing ring, Sealing ring not seated correctly in lid groove, Debris or food on lid rim or pot rim, Deformed lid or inner pot rim
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not touch escaping steam; it can cause severe burns. Unplug the cooker and allow pressure to release before inspection.
Steps to fix lid leakage:
- 1. Inspect sealing ring: Remove the silicone ring from the lid. Check for cracks, cuts, or hard spots. Replace if any damage is found.
- 2. Clean contact surfaces: Thoroughly clean the lid groove, sealing ring, and the top rim of the inner pot. Remove all food residue and starch.
- 3. Reinstall ring correctly: Fit the ring evenly into the lid groove, ensuring it is not twisted. Press it all the way around to seat it fully.
- 4. Check pot and lid alignment: Ensure the inner pot is the correct Steba part and that its rim is not bent. Close and lock the lid, verifying that it rotates and locks smoothly.
- 5. Test with water: Run a short pressure cycle with only water. Observe for leaks around the lid. If leaking persists, the lid or pot rim may be deformed and require replacement.
Always replace sealing rings periodically as recommended by Steba, especially if you cook frequently.
