Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels.
Basic checks:
- Remove and inspect the inner pot: Ensure the bottom of the pot and the central contact area are clean and dry. Wipe away any burnt residue or moisture.
- Check for deformation: A heavily warped or dented inner pot can cause poor contact and abnormal sensor readings. Try another compatible T-fal inner pot if available.
Sensor inspection (advanced):
- Turn the unit upside down (unplugged) and remove the bottom cover screws.
- Locate the NTC sensor mounted near the center of the heating plate or clamped to it. It is usually a small metal probe or disc with two wires.
- Check that the sensor is firmly attached to the heating plate and not hanging loose.
- Inspect the wiring harness from the sensor to the main control board for burns, cuts, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the PCB.
- Use a multimeter to measure the sensor resistance at room temperature (typically 50–150 kΩ depending on model). If it reads open circuit or near 0 Ω, replace the sensor.
Reassembly: After any checks or replacement, reassemble the base, ensuring no wires are pinched, then test with a small amount of water in the pot.
