Possible Causes
Weak heating element, Poor contact between pot and heating plate, Defective bottom temperature sensor, Excessive cold food load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool before internal checks.
User-level checks:
- Test the cooker with 2–3 cups of water only. If it still cannot complete preheat, the issue is with the cooker, not the recipe.
- Clean the bottom of the inner pot and the heating plate to ensure good thermal contact.
- Check that the inner pot is the original T-fal pot and sits flat without rocking.
Internal checks (advanced):
- Measure the resistance of the heating element and compare to typical values for similar models (usually 20–60 Ω).
- Verify the bottom NTC sensor is firmly attached and has reasonable resistance at room temperature.
If the element is weak or the sensor is out of range, replace the corresponding component.
