Possible Causes
Lid not fully closed, Lid position microswitch misaligned, Lid lock sensor wiring loose, Deformed lid hinge preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker before inspecting the lid mechanism. Never bypass safety switches.
- Check lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly several times. Make sure the rubber gasket is seated correctly and no food debris is trapped around the rim or hinge.
- Inspect lid lock area: With the unit unplugged, examine the latch hook and the plastic catch on the body. Clean any dried food or starch with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
- Check lid microswitch actuation: Slowly close the lid and listen/feel for a small click near the hinge or latch area. If there is no click, the lid switch may not be engaging. Gently press the latch area while the lid is closed and try powering on again.
- Verify bowl seating: Remove the inner bowl, wipe the contact area, and reseat it firmly. Some Tefal models will not detect the lid correctly if the bowl is not fully down.
- If error persists: The lid position switch or its wiring harness may be faulty. Replacement of the lid lock / lid switch assembly is typically required and may involve opening the top cover; if you are not comfortable with this, contact a qualified technician.
