Possible Causes
Inner bowl not in place or not making full contact, Deformed or warped inner bowl, Thermal fuse partially failing, Excessive starch or burnt food on heater plate causing hot spots
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the cooker to cool completely before touching internal surfaces.
- Verify bowl placement: Ensure the original Tefal inner bowl is used. Remove it, clean the outer surface, and reseat it so it sits flat and rotates freely if designed to do so.
- Clean heater plate: With the unit unplugged and cool, wipe the heater plate with a soft damp cloth to remove burnt food or starch. Dry thoroughly.
- Check bowl condition: Inspect the bottom of the bowl for warping, dents, or peeling coating. A warped bowl can cause poor contact and localized overheating.
- Try a low-heat program: After cleaning and reseating, run a warm or reheat program with a small amount of water (e.g., 500 ml). If E3 reappears quickly, the thermal protection or heater control may be faulty.
- Advanced repair: A failing thermal fuse or thermostat on the heater plate may need replacement. This requires opening the base and working with mains wiring; if you are not trained, contact a service center.
