Possible Causes
Failed lid NTC temperature sensor, Broken flex cable or wiring in the lid hinge, Loose or oxidized connector between lid sensor and main PCB, Main PCB analog input failure for lid sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and let the cooker cool fully before working on the lid or hinge area.
- 1. Reset and test: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then try a low-temperature program (e.g., keep warm). If E2 appears again, proceed.
- 2. Inspect lid harness: Open the lid and look at the hinge area where the lid wiring passes into the body. On many Toshiba multicookers, a small harness or flex cable runs through the hinge to the upper sensor. Check for cracked insulation, pinched wires, or obvious breaks.
- 3. Access lid sensor: Remove the inner lid plate and steam cap. Then remove the screws holding the outer lid cover (refer to your model’s service diagram if available). Locate the small NTC sensor near the steam vent or in the lid center. Ensure it is firmly attached and not covered with heavy scale or food residue.
- 4. Clean and reseat connectors: Disconnect the lid sensor plug, clean with a dry cloth, and reconnect firmly. Do the same at the main PCB end if accessible.
- 5. Resistance check: With the cooker unplugged, measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. Compare with the bottom sensor; it should be in a similar kΩ range. Replace the lid NTC sensor if it reads open, shorted, or wildly different from expected.
- 6. If wiring and sensor are good: The main control PCB may not be reading the sensor correctly. Replacement of the main PCB is typically required.
Do not operate the cooker with the lid sensor disconnected or bypassed; this can cause dangerous overpressure.
