Possible Causes

Defective pressure sensor module, Blocked pressure sensor tube or port, Loose pressure sensor connector on main PCB, Main PCB pressure sensing circuit failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Ensure the cooker is completely depressurized and unplugged before disassembly. Never open the lid while under pressure.

  • 1. Clean steam release components: Remove the steam cap, float valve cap, and anti-block shield (if equipped). Clean all parts with warm soapy water and ensure the steam vent is not clogged with starch or food.
  • 2. Inspect pressure sensor tube: Many Toshiba pressure multicookers use a small silicone or metal tube from the lid or steam chamber to a pressure sensor on the top or side. Check that this tube is not kinked, blocked, or detached.
  • 3. Check pressure sensor wiring: Access the top cover (remove screws under the lid hinge area). Locate the pressure sensor (small round or rectangular module with 3–4 wires). Ensure the connector is firmly seated on the sensor and on the main PCB.
  • 4. Visual inspection: Look for corrosion or moisture around the sensor. If the sensor housing is cracked or corroded, replace the pressure sensor module.
  • 5. Functional test: After reassembly, run a water-only pressure test (2–3 cups of water). If E4 persists and the unit does not build pressure, the sensor or main PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced.

Do not attempt to bypass the pressure sensor; this can lead to dangerous overpressure conditions.
