Possible Causes

Damaged or hardened lid gasket, Mis-seated inner lid plate, Leaking float valve seal, Steam release valve stuck in venting position

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug and allow the cooker to cool before handling the lid components.

  • 1. Inspect lid gasket: Remove the large silicone gasket from the lid. Check for cracks, flattening, or food residue. Clean thoroughly and reinstall, ensuring it is fully seated in the groove. Replace if any damage is found.
  • 2. Check inner lid plate: Remove the inner lid plate and clean both sides. Make sure it locks back into place securely and evenly.
  • 3. Verify steam release position: Ensure the steam release valve is set to the sealing position (as indicated in the Toshiba manual) before starting a pressure program.
  • 4. Float valve operation: Confirm that the float valve moves freely and that its silicone cap is soft and undamaged. Replace the float valve seal if it is worn.
  • 5. Water-only test: Add 2–3 cups of water and run a pressure program. Watch for steam leaks around the lid. If steam escapes continuously, replace the lid gasket and re-test.

Do not overtighten or modify the lid to force a seal; use only genuine Toshiba sealing parts.
