Possible Causes
Open-circuit main heater element under the inner pot, Burned heater wiring or connector, Failed heater relay on main PCB, Thermal fuse open in series with heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the multicooker and wait for all internal parts to cool before removing the bottom cover.
- 1. Visual inspection: Remove the bottom cover to access the heater assembly. Look for burnt wires, loose spade connectors, or discoloration around the heater terminals.
- 2. Check heater connections: Ensure all heater terminals are firmly connected to the wiring harness and that there is no corrosion.
- 3. Continuity test of heater: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the heater leads from the main PCB. Measure resistance across the heater terminals. A typical value is between 20–60 Ω (varies by model). An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
- 4. Inspect thermal fuse: Many Toshiba multicookers place a thermal fuse in series with the heater. Test it for continuity; if open, replace with the exact rated Toshiba-compatible fuse and investigate the cause of overheating.
- 5. Relay and PCB check: If the heater and fuse test good, the heater relay on the main PCB may be defective. Look for burnt relay contacts or board damage. Replacing the main control PCB is usually required.
Never bypass the thermal fuse or hard-wire the heater directly to mains; this is a severe fire hazard.
