Possible Causes
Faulty Start/Cancel button on control panel, Lid not detected as closed, Internal relay driver failure on main PCB, Child lock function engaged (on some Toshiba models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before opening the housing.
- 1. Check user settings: Consult the Toshiba manual to ensure child lock or safety lock is not enabled. Disable if active.
- 2. Test buttons: Press other buttons to see if they respond. If only Start is unresponsive, the keypad or touch sensor may be faulty.
- 3. Lid status: Confirm the lid icon (if present) shows closed. If not, inspect the lid switch as described in the LID error section.
- 4. Control panel inspection: Remove the front/top cover and inspect the keypad board for cracks or moisture. Reseat the ribbon cable to the main PCB.
- 5. Relay check: Listen for a click from the internal relay when Start is pressed. No click may indicate a failed relay driver or relay on the main PCB, requiring board replacement.
Do not short control pins to force the relay; this can damage the PCB and create a safety hazard.
