Possible Causes
Residue trapped under lid gasket or inner lid plate, Mold or bacteria in condensate collector, Degraded silicone gasket absorbing odors, Overheated plastic components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and cool before cleaning.
- 1. Deep clean lid assembly: Remove the lid gasket, inner lid plate, steam cap, and anti-block shield. Wash all removable parts with hot soapy water and dry completely.
- 2. Clean condensate system: Remove and scrub the condensate collector and the channel leading to it. Allow to dry fully.
- 3. Replace gasket if needed: If the silicone gasket retains strong odors after cleaning, replace it with a new Toshiba gasket.
- 4. Deodorize inner pot: Boil a mixture of water and a few tablespoons of white vinegar in the cooker on a non-pressure program, then rinse thoroughly.
Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners on plastic or silicone parts; they can accelerate degradation.
