Tower Float Valve Stuck Up / Residual Pressure

Float valve remains up and the lid cannot be opened long after cooking has finished and heating has stopped.

Possible Causes

Food residue sticking float valve in up position, Blocked steam release valve preventing full depressurization, Overfilled pot causing thick contents to block vent

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Never force the lid open. Assume the cooker is still under pressure until proven otherwise.

  • Wait additional time: Allow at least 20–30 minutes for natural pressure release, especially with thick foods.
  • Gently tap float: Using a long utensil, gently tap the side of the float valve to see if it drops. Do not press it down forcefully.
  • Check steam release valve: Ensure the valve is in the venting position. If no steam escapes and the float remains up, the vent may be blocked.
  • After safe opening, clean thoroughly: Once the lid opens, disassemble and clean the float valve, steam release valve, and anti-block shield to prevent recurrence.

If the float valve mechanism is damaged or continues to stick, replace the float valve assembly.
