Possible Causes
Overfilled inner pot above MAX line, High-starch foods foaming and blocking anti-block shield, Anti-block shield or vent passages partially clogged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of the steam vent. Allow the cooker to finish or cancel and depressurize before cleaning.
- Check fill level: Ensure the inner pot is never filled above the MAX line, and for beans, rice, and porridge, do not exceed 1/2–2/3 full as per Tower instructions.
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove the shield under the lid and wash thoroughly to remove starch buildup. Clean the steam release valve and vent holes with a small brush.
- Use oil or rack: For foamy foods, add a small amount of oil and use a trivet or steaming rack to keep food off the bottom, reducing foaming.
- Natural release: Allow pressure to drop naturally instead of quick release for very foamy dishes.
If spitting continues even with correct fill and clean parts, the steam release valve assembly may be worn and should be replaced.
