Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Tristar multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening the lid or removing any covers.
- Check lid closure: Open and close the lid several times, ensuring it fully engages the lock. Listen for a distinct click from the lid microswitch. Make sure the silicone gasket is seated correctly and not preventing full closure.
- Inspect lid lock area: Look at the metal or plastic tab on the lid that presses the lid switch (usually near the hinge or handle). If bent or worn, gently reshape it so it presses the switch fully when closed.
- Clean around the switch: Food residue or dried starch can block the lid from closing fully. Clean the rim, hinge area, and lock slot with a damp cloth. Do not pour water into the cooker body.
- Check for play in the lid: If the hinge is loose, tighten accessible hinge screws (if present) so the lid aligns correctly with the switch.
- Advanced check (only if comfortable): With the unit unplugged, remove the top plastic cover (if serviceable) to visually inspect the lid switch wiring harness for broken or pinched wires. Do not bypass the switch; replace it if damaged.
If E1 persists after cleaning and confirming proper lid closure, the lid switch or main control PCB likely needs replacement and professional service is recommended.
