Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure there is no pressure inside. Open the lid only after confirming the float valve has dropped and steam has fully vented.
- Clean pressure sensor port: Many Tristar multicookers have a small channel or port from the lid chamber to the pressure sensor. Remove the inner lid (if removable) and clean any starch or food blocking this port with a soft brush or toothpick. Do not enlarge the hole.
- Check steam release and float valve: Disassemble the steam release valve and float valve according to the user manual. Clean all parts thoroughly and ensure they move freely.
- Inspect lid interior: Look for a small plastic or metal housing where the pressure sensor is mounted (often under the top cover). If accessible, ensure its wiring harness is not loose or damaged.
- Test with water only: Reassemble and run a short pressure program with at least the minimum water level. If E5 returns immediately, the sensor or PCB is likely defective.
Persistent E5 errors usually require replacement of the pressure sensor assembly or main control PCB. This should be done by a service technician familiar with Tristar pressure systems.
