Safety first: Never force the lid open if there is any chance of remaining pressure.

• Verify pressure release: Gently move the steam release valve to the venting position to ensure no steam escapes. If steam is present, wait until it stops and the float valve is fully down.
• Gentle lid movement: Once fully depressurized, gently wiggle the lid back and forth within its locked range to free any minor obstructions.
• Inspect from inside (if removable lid): If the inner lid can be removed with the lid partially open, check for food pieces stuck in the lock mechanism.
• Do not use excessive force: Forcing the lid can break the lock assembly. If it remains stuck, contact a service technician.

After freeing the lid, clean the locking mechanism thoroughly to prevent recurrence.
