Tristar Pressure Leak / Inability to Build Pressure

Multicooker heats but never reaches pressure; steam constantly escapes from the lid and cooking takes too long.

Possible Causes

Damaged silicone lid gasket, Dirty or mis-seated gasket, Steam release valve stuck partially open, Worn or dirty float valve seal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not place your face or hands directly over the steam vent. Allow the cooker to cool and depressurize before disassembly.

  • Inspect silicone gasket: Remove the inner lid (if present) and take out the round silicone gasket. Check for cracks, hardening, or deformation. Clean it with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Reinstall evenly in its groove.
  • Check steam release valve: Remove the steam release knob or cap. Clean any food residue or starch buildup. Ensure it moves freely between Sealing and Venting positions.
  • Clean float valve and seal: Remove the float valve pin and silicone cap. Clean thoroughly and ensure the cap is soft and undamaged. Replace if hardened or cracked.
  • Water level and load: Ensure you have at least the minimum water level and that the pot is not overfilled beyond the MAX line, as this can affect pressure buildup.

If the cooker still cannot build pressure after gasket and valve maintenance, replace the silicone gasket and float valve seal with genuine Tristar parts.
