Possible Causes

Starch buildup inside steam release valve, Food particles blocking vent channel, Deformed valve silicone components, Mineral scale deposits

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Never attempt to clear a blockage while the cooker is under pressure. Turn off the cooker and allow it to cool until the float valve drops.

  • Remove steam release valve: Take off the valve knob or cap according to the manual. Some pull straight up; others twist off.
  • Soak and clean: Soak the valve parts in warm soapy water. Use a small brush or toothpick to clear the vent hole and channels. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Inspect for damage: Check any silicone parts for deformation or cracks. Replace if damaged.
  • Clean vent pipe: From the lid side, ensure the metal or plastic vent pipe is clear. Gently pass a pipe cleaner through if accessible.

Reassemble the valve correctly before use. If venting is still restricted, replace the steam release valve assembly with a Tristar-compatible part.
