Possible Causes

Shorted main NTC sensor on heater plate, Moisture ingress into sensor housing, Shorted sensor wiring harness or damaged insulation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool fully. Do not attempt measurements on a live appliance.

  • Dry the unit: If the cooker was recently washed or exposed to steam, leave it unplugged with the lid open for several hours to dry. Then test again. Persistent E2 indicates a hardware fault.
  • Inspect sensor area: Remove the inner pot and visually inspect the central sensor area on the base. Look for signs of moisture, rust, or melted plastic around the sensor.
  • Access internal wiring: Remove the bottom cover. Locate the NTC sensor wires from the heater plate to the control board. Check for crushed insulation, melted spots, or wires touching the metal chassis.
  • Check resistance (advanced): Disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure its resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Compare with expected NTC values if available.
  • Correct wiring issues: If wires are pinched or insulation is damaged, carefully separate and insulate them with high-temperature electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing. Ensure they are routed away from sharp edges.
  • Replace faulty sensor: If the sensor measures near 0 Ω or shows visible damage, replace the main NTC temperature sensor assembly with a compatible Xiaomi part.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the bottom cover, ensuring no wires are trapped. Test with a short cooking program. If E2 remains, the control PCB’s sensor input circuit may be damaged and requires professional service.
