• Inspect lid sensor area: Open the lid and locate the small metal or plastic sensor near the steam vent or inner lid. Check for physical damage, corrosion, or moisture.
• Dry moisture: If you see condensation or water around the lid sensor, dry it gently with a soft cloth and leave the lid open for several hours before testing again.
• Check hinge wiring: On models with a wired lid, inspect the hinge area for pinched or broken wires. Gently move the lid while looking for exposed conductors.
• Internal connector check (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the top or side cover (depending on model) to access the lid sensor connector on the PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for bent pins.
• Resistance test: If accessible, measure the lid NTC sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to the base sensor’s approximate value. A reading of 0 Ω or infinite resistance indicates a failed sensor.
• Replace lid sensor: If the sensor is defective or its cable is damaged, replace the lid temperature sensor or lid harness with a Xiaomi-compatible part.
• Professional help: If wiring and sensor appear intact but E4 persists, the control board’s sensor input may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a service center.
