Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve or float valve, Faulty pressure sensor on lid or chassis, Clogged anti-block shield or inner lid filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the cooker is under pressure, do not attempt to open the lid. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool until the float valve drops and pressure is fully released.
- Clean steam release components: Remove the steam release valve, float valve, and anti-block shield (if fitted). Wash them thoroughly with warm soapy water, removing any food particles or starch buildup. Ensure all holes are clear.
- Inspect silicone seals: Check the silicone cap on the float valve and the sealing ring around the lid. Replace if cracked, hardened, or deformed.
- Check pressure sensor port: On models with a separate pressure sensor tube, ensure the tube is not blocked or kinked. Gently clear any residue with a soft brush.
- Reassemble correctly: Refit all valves and shields exactly as per the user manual. Incorrect assembly can cause E5 and unsafe pressure behavior.
- Test with water only: Add 2–3 cups of water to the inner pot and run a short pressure program. Observe if E5 reappears. If it does, the pressure sensor or control board may be faulty.
- Internal inspection (advanced): With the unit unplugged and cool, access the pressure sensor (often mounted on the lid or inside the top housing). Check its connector and wiring for damage.
- Replace faulty sensor: If the pressure sensor shows visible damage or fails continuity/voltage tests (per service data), replace it with a Xiaomi-compatible pressure sensor module.
- Service center: Persistent E5 after cleaning and sensor replacement indicates a possible control PCB fault; seek professional repair.
