Possible Causes
Food residue trapped under sealing ring or inner lid, Grease buildup in steam vent, New plastic components off-gassing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and cool before deep cleaning.
- Disassemble for cleaning: Remove the inner pot, sealing ring, inner lid, steam release valve, and condensation collector.
- Wash components: Clean all removable parts with warm soapy water. Pay special attention to grooves under the sealing ring and inside the steam vent.
- Deodorize: Run a short steam cycle with water and a few tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice to neutralize odors. Vent the cooker afterward.
- Dry thoroughly: Allow all parts to dry completely before reassembly to prevent mold or mildew.
- Replace seals if needed: If odors persist, replace the sealing ring and any porous plastic parts that have absorbed smells.
