Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve, Clogged anti-block shield, Clogged float valve, Too much food or foaming ingredients blocking vent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the cooker is under pressure, do not attempt to open the lid. Move the unit away from cabinets and keep face and hands clear of the steam release area.
- Release pressure safely: Turn the steam release handle/knob to the Venting position using a long utensil if necessary. Allow all steam to escape until the float valve drops.
- Unplug and cool: Once depressurized, unplug the cooker and let it cool before disassembling any parts.
- Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release valve cap (if removable on your Zavor model) and rinse it under warm water. Use a small brush or toothpick to clear any food particles.
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove the anti-block shield (metal or silicone cover over the steam outlet inside the lid). Wash thoroughly to remove starch buildup.
- Check float valve: Push the float valve up and down from inside the lid. It should move freely. Clean around it and ensure its silicone cap is intact and not swollen.
- Adjust recipes: Avoid overfilling the pot (never above the MAX line) and reduce foamy ingredients (e.g., oatmeal, beans) or use a bit of oil to reduce foaming.
- If E5 continues: The pressure sensor or control board may be misreading pressure and should be tested and replaced if necessary.
