Possible Causes
Inner pan not seated correctly, Deformed or non-original inner pan, Dirty or oxidized pan detection contacts, Failed pan detection sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching internal metal surfaces.
- Confirm correct inner pan: Use only the original Zojirushi inner pan designed for your model. Third-party or warped pans may not be detected.
- Reseat the pan: Remove the inner pan, wipe the bottom dry, and place it back in, rotating it slightly to ensure it sits flat on the heating plate.
- Clean contact points: On some models, there are small spring contacts or a central sensor post under the pan. Gently wipe these with a soft dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or bend the contacts.
- Check for warping: Place the inner pan on a flat countertop and see if it rocks. If it is warped, it may not make proper contact and should be replaced.
- Power reset: Plug the unit back in, select a short cycle, and start. If E02 remains, the internal pan detection sensor or wiring may be faulty.
When to call a technician: If the error persists with a known-good pan, internal sensor or board diagnostics are required.
