Possible Causes
Defective door lock motor, faulty door position microswitch, misaligned door latch, damaged wiring between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. If the door is locked with food inside, wait until the oven cools; forcing the door can damage the lock.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges or obstructions on the frame or gasket.
- Listen for lock motor: On pyrolytic models, when starting a cleaning cycle (with power restored), you should hear the lock motor engage. No sound suggests a failed lock motor or no power to it.
- Inspect lock assembly: Remove the top panel of the oven (after isolating power). Locate the door lock assembly near the front. Check for broken plastic parts, loose linkages, or disconnected plugs.
- Test microswitch: With a multimeter, test continuity of the door lock microswitch(es) while manually operating the lock lever. Replace the lock assembly if the switch does not change state reliably.
- Wiring check: Trace the harness from the lock to the control board. Repair any damaged wires and ensure connectors are fully seated.
Warning: Do not bypass door safety switches; this is dangerous and may violate local regulations.
