Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, seized fan bearing, obstructed fan blade, faulty fan relay on power board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the mains and allow the oven to cool.
- Check fan operation: Start a fan-assisted program with the oven empty. If the fan does not spin or is noisy, suspect the fan motor. If F5 appears immediately, the control may not detect fan operation.
- Inspect fan blade: Remove the rear panel inside the oven cavity to access the fan blade. Clean off heavy grease or burnt food deposits. Ensure the blade is tight on the shaft.
- Spin test: With power off, spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. Stiff or seized movement indicates a worn motor bearing.
- Motor continuity: Access the rear of the oven, disconnect the fan motor, and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws from the rear, pull out the motor, transfer the fan blade if necessary, and install the new AEG-compatible convection fan motor. Refit the rear cavity panel.
Warning: Sharp metal edges inside the cavity and rear panel can cause cuts. Wear cut-resistant gloves.
