Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, blocked cooling air channels, faulty fan triac/relay on control board, defective temperature limiter on top of oven
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool.
- Check fan behaviour: After a normal cooking cycle, the cooling fan should run for several minutes then stop. If it never runs or runs indefinitely with F8, there is a control or sensor issue.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the top cover of the oven to access the cooling fan. Check that the blades are not obstructed by insulation or wiring. Spin the fan by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Test motor: Disconnect the fan and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with an AEG-compatible cooling fan motor.
- Check thermal limiter: Some models use a thermostat on the top of the oven casing to control the fan. Test it for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open when it should be closed.
- Control board: If the fan and limiter are good, the triac or relay on the control board may be stuck. Board replacement is usually required.
Warning: Do not operate the oven without a functioning cooling fan; overheating can damage electronics and cabinetry.
