Possible Causes
Heavy grease buildup on cavity surfaces, spillage on elements, blocked ventilation causing hot spots, degraded insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven if smoke is heavy. Ensure good kitchen ventilation.
- Inspect cavity: Once cool, check for heavy grease, carbon deposits, or food spills on the base, walls, and elements.
- Deep clean: Use an AEG-approved oven cleaner or the pyrolytic cleaning function if available. Remove shelves and accessories before cleaning.
- Check door seal: Ensure the gasket is intact to prevent smoke leakage into the kitchen.
- Monitor next use: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 20–30 minutes to burn off any cleaner residue.
Warning: If you smell burning plastic or see sparks, switch off power immediately and inspect wiring and insulation.
