Possible Causes
Element short to earth, moisture in elements or wiring, damaged mains cable, faulty suppression capacitor or filter board, water ingress into control area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips. Isolate the oven and investigate the cause. Only qualified persons should perform insulation testing.
- Check for recent cleaning: If the fault started after steam cleaning or a spill, allow the oven to dry for 24–48 hours with the door open, then retest.
- Inspect mains cable: Examine the supply cable for cuts, crushing, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Test elements for earth leakage: Disconnect each element and use a megohmmeter between each terminal and earth. Low insulation resistance indicates a faulty element.
- Check filter board: Some AGA ovens have an EMI filter at the mains entry. Inspect for burnt components or cracked capacitors.
- Replace faulty components: Replace any element or filter board showing leakage or visible damage. If water ingress is suspected in the control area, dry thoroughly and replace any corroded parts.
