Possible Causes
Open oven temperature sensor (RTD), Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at control board, Corroded sensor plug
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing wiring or control components.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access the sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor inside the cavity (rear wall, usually upper left or center). Remove the two mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
- Check connection: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated. If there is an in-line connector behind the rear panel, remove the back panel and inspect for loose or burnt pins.
- Test resistance: With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance across its terminals. A good Amana sensor at room temperature should be ~1050–1100 Ω. If the meter shows OL (open) or extremely high resistance, replace the sensor.
- Check harness continuity: If the sensor tests good, test continuity from the sensor connector to the EOC connector using a multimeter. Repair or replace any open or damaged wires.
- Control board: If sensor and wiring are good but F3 persists, the EOC input circuit may be faulty and should be replaced.
