Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring harness shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, Failed EOC sensor input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing panels or touching wiring.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Access the oven temperature sensor from inside the cavity or rear panel. Look for melted insulation, bare wires touching metal, or moisture around the connector.
  • Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. At room temperature, it should be ~1050–1100 Ω. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
  • Check for shorts to ground: With the sensor unplugged, test each sensor lead to chassis ground with a multimeter. Any continuity indicates a shorted harness; repair or replace the wiring.
  • Control board evaluation: If sensor and harness are good but F4 persists, the EOC may be interpreting the signal incorrectly due to an internal short. Replace the EOC.
